  • We use the PRESENT SIMPLE to talk about facts and give opinions.
  • We use the PRESENT CONTINUOUS to talk about what’s happening at or around the time of speaking.
  • We use the PRESENT PERFECT SIMPLE to talk about past actions without saying when they happened.
  • We use the PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS to talk about actions that started in the past and are still happening.


We can use the present continuous with  " always " to complain about behaviour that we don’t like and find annoying.

Ex. The cleaning lady is always closing the windows.
